What is The Student Success Platform?
We are investing in the information tools to empower you and "University Support Staff" (Student Engagement Officers, Academic Support Tutors, Lecturers and Professional Services Staff) to identify students who may need additional support and direction. These tools are known as The Student Success Platform.
How does the Student Success Platform work?
The "Student Success Platform" takes signals of student engagement (data) and uses them to a) feedback to students about their engagement profile and b) helps us to identify students who may need additional support. We send over twenty engagement signals to the platform in the following categories:
- On-campus presence
- Student activity in virtual academic environments
- Student assignment submission activity
- Academic module results
Data signals of on-campus presence include attendance at timetabled learning events, which will be generated by student tap-in.
How will this help me?
Rather than having to access multiple systems and cross-reference paper records, staff will be able to view a student's engagement with the University quickly and easily. Staff will have access to a dashboard of information about students that clearly represents their attendance and engagement with their studies.
The need for paper registers and their processing will be removed, freeing up students to concentrate during teaching and professional services staff to focus on supporting students and staff.
Students who are not engaging will be identified much earlier than they are at present, allowing us to put in support for them in a timely way when it is easy, rather than later, when it is not.
